How do I know what to look for in a DJ?
Whether this is the your first time or your hundreth time finding a DJ here are a few things to look for to find the right DJ for your event.
Experienced
Today, we live in an age where anyone with $500 bucks can go to Guitar Center and buy the most basic (yet unreliable) gear so that they can call themselves a DJ. Unfortunately this self-proclaimed DJ will tell you he's got experience when he really is only trying to use your event as a practice session. You've probably heeard all the horror stories when it comes to this kind of DJ because he is the ones arrives late in jeans and a T-shirt to your formal dinner, he doesn't have the music you requested, the song skips on your first dance, he pronounces peoples' names wrong (including your own), and although he makes an impression it is the wrong one to make. After everything you wish you would have known more or paid more to insure that this didn't happen.
At Swell DJ Productions we've been providing on-time, reliable and friendly entertainment for countless brides. We'll meet with you and your fiancee one-on-one to discuss every detail of your dream wedding. With all the success we've had with different types of weddings themes and styles, you can trust in us that we can get the job done right! We'll go the extra mile for you!
Organized
It takes careful planning and concern to have a flawless wedding. The unknown truth is that nmost djs have a different job during the week and they only dj ocassionally on the weekends. Swell DJ Productions on the other hand has staff that work full-time to ensure that your event runs smoothly from start to finish We are dedicated to providing you and your guests the very best we have to offer because it is what we do Full-time every weekend.
MC Personality
There are alot of DJs out there that love to hear themselves talk. They are easily compared to game show hosts and poor comedy acts. They tend to steal all the attention (in an annoying way.) On the otherhand there are new-djs that are too shy to have a strong vocal presence when using a mic. The problem with them is that they don't speak at all or when they do you can't hear or uderstand them.
I'd describe ourselves as knowing where the professionl line is between the two. We are comfortable with public speaking and have the experience to introduce your wedding party with style, but we won't steal the show either. We prefer to keep the focus of the event on the bride & groom (where it belongs) and only announce things when appropriate to do so.
Age
Although there is nothing wrong with an older well-experienced DJ or MC, I just want to mention that it is rare to find a 55 year old DJ that knows how to get down and entertain a younger couple in their early 20s. And vice versa. If your DJ is having fun, most likely you and your guests will too. Look for a DJ that is young at heart and matches the personality of the couple well.
Honestly, most of our DJs are in their mid 20s and have the energy to keep a dancefloor moving for hours! So if you are looking for a dj that can mix and blend songs in a non-stop fashion you've come to the right place. Don't worry though we'll work up to it throughout the night so that everyone has a chance to have fun (including your more seasoned guests.)
Hopefully this has been helpful in your quest for the perfect DJ. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Also If you are interested in getting to know your DJ better we can schedule a complimentary meeting for you and your fiancee.
